Barcelona star Gabriel Jesus has this week named a fellow member of the attacking ranks in Catalunya’s capital as his preferred candidate to net the goal which secures the club’s next Champions League title.

The Blaugrana star in question? Raphinha.

Frontman Raphinha is for his part of course fresh off a historic opening to the new campaign. Tasked with taking up a new role as Barca’s central striker, the Brazilian has responded with a string of explosive performances.

Across eight appearances to date, Raphinha has racked up 17 direct goal contributions.

Watching on as his fellow countryman reaches entirely new heights has been the aforementioned Gabriel Jesus, who swapped Arsenal for the Spotify Camp Nou over the summer.

And speaking during a Q&A for Barcelona’s official website (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) this week, frontman Jesus revealed his hope of Raphinha’s ongoing excellence being rewarded with history:

“I think Raphinha deserves the goal that gives us our sixth Champions League title. He’s scoring constantly. He’s incredible, constantly improving, and I hope he keeps it up because he also improves the team.”
