Official: Barcelona legend announces retirement from football

A former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week brought the curtain down on an iconic career. This comes amid confirmation on the part of Pedro Rodríguez that he has retired from football at the age of 39.

Attacker Pedro is best remembered for his time plying his trade on the books of the aforementioned Barca. Between 2008 and 2015, the Spaniard played his part in one of the most successful periods in the Blaugrana’s storied history.

All told, Pedro racked up well over 300 appearances for the Catalan club, notching 160 goal contributions, and securing five La Liga titles, as well as three Champions Leagues.

Across further spells with the likes of Chelsea and most recently Lazio, the versatile winger also added the Premier League and Europa League to his burgeoning silverware cabinet.

Alongside a World Cup title and European Championship trophy in the colours of Spain, Pedro goes down as a true modern-day legend of the game.

Congratulations on a memorable career, Pedrito!
