From Asane Sow to Oumar Solet: Key objectives within the winter transfer window for Napoli

With the January transfer market quickly approaching, the Partenopei have no intentions of wasting time as Napoli have set their sights on three primary objectives within the market to bolster the squad in preparation for the second half of the season.

It has been quite a disappointing start to the campaign following the arrival of coach Max Allegri at the helm of the club following his sacking from Milan last season, as the Azzurri currently find themselves in 9th place, only 6 points out of 15 available within their first five matches of the 2026-27.

Hence the problematic beginning to the Serie A season, both Max Allergi and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis have agreed upon the main priorities within the winter transfer window in order to enhance the quality of the squad as they aspire to qualify for the Champions League next season.

La Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that the Partenopei have put under their radar Asane Sow of Swiss giants Fc Basel, 20 year-old Italian winger whom has had a strong start to the season, amassing 3 goals and 3 assists within the first 7 games of the season, a profile that can add pace and dribbling up-top along any flank.

In addition, Napoli have added to the list 22 Italian international Issa Doumbia of Sporting Lisbon in central midfield, as well as Monaco’s Mamadou Coulibaly and Sebastian Szymansky of Ligue 1 outfits Stade Rennes.

Furthermore, Max Allegri’s side seek reinforcements in the back line as they are determined to reignite their interest for Frenchman central defender Oumar Solet, as well as embarking on the path towards Dodo of Fiorentina, as the Brazilian full-back seems to be an outcast within La Viola’s project.
