Official | Ewen Jaouen completes Newcastle United move

Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Ewen Jaouen (20). The French goalkeeper departs for a reported fee of €28.5m, a record sale for a Ligue 2 side.

The Stade de Reims goalkeeper was a sought-after prospect. He reportedly visited Chelsea FC’s facilities and Real Madrid once identified him as Thibaut Courtois’ long-term successor, but the next chapter of his career will take him to Tyneside.

Jaouen impressed while on loan at USL Dunkerque during the 2024-2025 campaign, almost leading the club to promotion from Ligue 2 and also taking the Northern club to the semi-finals of the Coupe de France. He returned to parent club Reims last summer, following Les Stadistes’ relegation from Ligue 1.

He has been the No.1 throughout the season for Reims, however, the club have not managed to return to France’s top-flight at the first time of asking.

He now departs for a fee of €28.5m. Reims collected the same fee when they sold Hugo Ekitike to Paris Saint-Germain. Jaouen has signed a four-year deal with the Magpies.
