La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend added to the club’s midfield ranks at academy level. This comes courtesy of the signing of talented starlet Dany Freire.

Freire, for his part, is a 16-year-old attack-minded midfielder capable of filling a number of positions in the final third.

A youth international with Portugal, the youngster has spent recent seasons developing on the books of CS Fola in Luxembourg, a country in which he also holds citizenship.

Freire’s talents recently caught the attention of those behind the scenes at the aforementioned Barcelona, giving rise to a trial in Catalunya’s capital.

And as alluded to above, the attacker evidently took full advantage of the opportunity afforded to him with La Masia… As per a report from market insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Barcelona sign 16-year-old talent Dany Freire, deal agreed and here we go! Portuguese attacking midfielder passed the trial and signs his Barcelona contract today.’
