Predicted Chelsea lineup against Manchester City: Reece James, Pedro Neto to return for FA Cup final

Reece James and Pedro Neto are in contention to return to the Chelsea starting lineup when they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Chelsea will be desperate to return to winning ways when they lock horns with Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday afternoon. Calum McFarlane has received positive updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Robert Sanchez (concussion), Pedro Neto (knock), and Alejandro Garnacho (unspecified) have resumed training. The trio may be fit and available to take on Manchester City this weekend. So, Estevao Willian (hamstring), Jesse Derry (head), and Jamie Gittens (thigh) are the only players in the treatment room.

Additionally, Mykhailo Mudryk continues his suspension after failing a doping test over a year ago. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, McFarlane provided fitness updates on Neto, Garnacho, Reece James, and Levi Colwill.

Chelsea’s interim head coach said, “He’s trained well this week; we’re happy with Reece. It was good to get him minutes [against Liverpool] and I felt he played well when he came on. So, it’s largely positive around Reece. In the lead-up to the Liverpool game, we were confident he was able to play those minutes and he came through them well. He’s trained well this week and we’re really hopeful he can finish the season in that sort of form.”

“Levi’s had a really good rehab and, before he played his first game back for us against Nottingham Forest, he played for the Under-21s on two or three occasions. So, it’s been a really good training week for Levi and he was exceptional against Liverpool. That speaks a lot about him, being able to produce that sort of performance after that time out, and at a really difficult place. He has trained well this week, and we’re looking forward to potentially having him on Saturday as well.”

“Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho have trained well this week, so both looking really good. We’re really hopeful with them as well. So, positive signs Really positive. He [Sanchez] has trained well this week and we’re hopeful going into Saturday.”

Robert Sanchez should return between the sticks if he is ready, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Manchester City on Saturday. The backline will feature Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella.

As for the midfield unit, Reece James should line up alongside Moises Caicedo in the double pivot after building up his fitness in recent weeks. Enzo Fernandez will reprise the no. 10 role, with Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto being the two wide attackers. Finally, Joao Pedro will lead the line for the Blues against Manchester City this weekend.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella; James, Caicedo; Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Neto; Pedro
