Tottenham nearing move for ex-Inter director Piero Ausilio
Reigning Serie A champions saw Piero Ausilio depart the club a couple of weeks ago and could soon see the Italian join Tottenham.
The ex-Nerazzurri sporting director has been vital to setting an identity at Inter. He worked closely with Beppe Marotta, making sure that the club has become a symbol of stability in the Serie A.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Ausilio’s move to Tottenham is closing in. The London club have offered him the role of a sporting director and Ausilio is expected to join them ahead of the January transfer window.
The Italian has been to North London recently, especially when Inter ironed out a move for Djed Spence. He also tried to sign Guglielmo Vicario for the Lilywhites, who have a significant amount of Italian connections, even apart from Roberto De Zerbi and Sandro Tonali.
Ausilio would technically replace Fabio Paratici, who left Tottenham at the turn of the year and joined Fiorentina.
An appointment like the ex-Inter executive could be game-changing for Spurs, who recruited in a haphazard way and are yet to win the Premier League.
