Crystal Palace rival Tottenham in Robbie Keane chase

Crystal Palace are all set to rival Tottenham in the race for Irish manager Robbie Keane, who seems to be waiting for a call from his former club.

Robbie Keane, who is doing wonders for Ferencvaros in the Hungarian top flight, seems to have quite a few admirers. The 45-year-old Irish manager has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are keen on having their former star on their bench on an interim basis. However, they are set to face stiff competition from Crystal Palace, who are looking for someone who can take over from Oliver Glasner.

While Keane has limited experience as a manager, he certainly has an impressive track record. As a result, quite a few clubs want the former Tottenham striker, who bagged 122 goals for the North London club.

Spurs are the biggest contenders for his signature. They might make another change on the hot seat before the end of the season. Following the sacking of Thomas Frank, they handed the reins to Igor Tudor on an interim basis until the end of the season.

However, the Croatian manager hasn’t been able to turn things around. They have lost all four games under him, and the situation is worse than it was a few weeks back. While they won’t sack him just yet, the game against Liverpool on Sunday could have a big say on his future.

Keane could soon be managing in England

If he is shown the exit door, they could look at Keane as a potential replacement. While the 45-year-old has shown willingness to take charge at his former club in the past, he might not be too keen on being an interim.

Spurs do have him on their radar as an option, but they are looking at more ambitious targets for now. However, if they do not make a move for Keane early enough, they could lose out on him as Crystal Palace are also keen on his signature.

They have shortlisted the former Tottenham striker as an ideal replacement for Oliver Glasner, who is leaving the club at the end of the season. The Eagles value the Irishman’s pedigree and are willing to make a bold appointment.

Since they are willing to offer him the job on a permanent basis, the Eagles might just have the edge over Tottenham.
