Borussia Dortmund join race to sign Archie Gray

Borussia Dortmund will reportedly look to sign 19-year-old English youth international Archie Gray from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Archie Gray is the subject of interest of Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga giants are scouring the market for a versatile midfielder and have set their sights on the Tottenham Hotspur wonderkid. However, Dortmund will face stiff competition for the 19-year-old prodigy’s signature, as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also keen on signing him in the summer transfer window.

How has Archie Gray fared at Tottenham so far?

Archie Gray has made considerable progress since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Leeds United in a deal worth £40 million in July 2024. Born in Durham, the Englishman spent his formative years in England, rising through the ranks at Leeds United before breaking into the West Yorkshire club’s first-team squad a few years ago.

The 19-year-old has not been an undisputed first-choice starter since joining Tottenham, but he has been impressive in his sporadic appearances. Gray has made over 50 appearances for the North London club thus far while chipping in with two goals and one assist. Meanwhile, the English youth international’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid.

A man in demand

Borussia Dortmund will dip into the market for a versatile midfielder in the summer transfer window after allowing Pascal Gross to rejoin Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this year. Additionally, Felix Nmecha faces an uncertain future at Signal Iduna Park amid his links with several Premier League giants. So, Gray is a viable target for the Bundesliga giants.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s interest in Archie Gray makes sense. Leon Goretzka will depart from the Allianz Arena as a free agent after the 2025/26 season ends. So, Bayern Munich must dip into the market for a versatile midfielder, with the Tottenham wonderkid emerging as a viable target.

As for Real Madrid, the Merengues have been scouring the market for top-class midfielders since parting ways with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in consecutive summers. The 19-year-old Englishman is thus an option worth considering, with many comparing the young midfielder to Kroos.

Additionally, Gray’s ability to play as a centre-back and a right-back makes him an appealing target for Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid. With Tottenham enduring a horrific campaign, a summer departure may be on the cards for the English youth international. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the teenage sensation.
