Celtic considering Graham Potter as next manager

Scottish giants Celtic are reportedly looking to appoint former Chelsea boss Graham Potter as their next manager.

Graham Potter, who is currently incharge of the Swedish national team for the World Cup qualification play-offs, could end up taking charge in the Scottish top flight next season. According to a report from Football Insider, Celtic are interested in having the former Chelsea and West Ham United boss as their next permanent manager.

Graham Potter’s disappointing spells at West Ham & Chelsea

After parting ways with the Blues at the start of 2023, Potter was away from the game for a significant amount of time before making a return with West Ham United at the start of 2025. However, his time at the London club didn’t go according to plan.

The 50-year-old was shown the exit door just nine months into his tenure. He led the Hammers in a total of 25 matches and averaged less than a point per game. However, he was back in the hot seat just a month later as Sweden were looking for someone who could help them qualify for the World Cup via the play-offs for the first time since 2018.

He has only signed a short-term deal with the Swedish national team and is gearing up for the qualifiers in March. While his contract could be extended if he helps them reach the finals, Potter’s stint could also end if they fail to progress.

Celtic are interested in Potter

Since he could be available ahead of next season, multiple top clubs are interested in him and are keeping tabs on his situation. Celtic are one of the clubs that are keen on having him on their bench. However, he is only seen as an outsider to take the job, amidst interest from other top clubs.

Given the amount of experience he has under his belt, the Scottish giants would love to have him on their bench. However, a lot will depend on his availability and desire to manage in the Scottish Premiership.

Celtic are looking to assess every possible option before making a decision, and soon they will have a clear idea of whether the former Chelsea boss is available for the job or not, as the World Cup qualification play-offs are around the corner.
