Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United step up interest in Aleksandar Stankovic
Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all stepped up their efforts to sign Club Brugge midfield sensation Aleksandar Stankovic.
Aleksandar Stankovic has not looked back since joining Club Brugge. His impressive performances for the Belgian club across competitions have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. The Serbian international finds himself on the wishlist of the biggest clubs in England, and they are set to battle for his signature.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all keen on his signature and have already stepped up their pursuit of the 20-year-old defensive midfielder. All three Premier League giants have been closely monitoring him ahead of a potential transfer.
Aleksandar Stankovic came up the ranks at Inter Milan, and he got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2024. Since he was unlikely to have enough first-team minutes, they ended up sending him out on loan to FC Luzern. While he had an impressive loan spell at the Swiss club, it was not enough to get him into Inter’s first team.
As a result, he ended up leaving them last summer in search of a prominent role. The move to Club Brugge has certainly worked out in his favour. Not only has the Serb established himself as one of their mainstays, but he has also been putting in some exceptional performances, which have not gone unnoticed.
The young defensive midfielder has been involved in 37 matches so far, and he even has 11 goal contributions to his name. While Aleksandar Stankovic prefers playing in the holding role, he is equally effective in an advanced role.
Premier League trio wants to sign Stankovic
The maturity, poise and technical quality that Aleksandar Stankovic has shown as a deep-lying playmaker have placed him on the wishlist of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea. Scouts from the English clubs have been regularly watching him, and they are quite impressed with the composure that he has shown. He is also being compared to a young Declan Rice.
Stankovic is open to a potential transfer next summer, and he will certainly be tempted if Arsenal, Chelsea or United come forward with an offer. While all three Premier League giants have the financial might to easily pull off a potential transfer, Inter Milan could cause problems as they have a buy-back option for the summer of 2026 and 2027.
Arsenal have expressed great interest in the Serb, Manchester United have been scouting him extensively, and he is a great fit for Chelsea’s project, which revolves around signing the best young players. As a result, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
