‘It’s the first time that I have a team that is such a rollercoaster’ – Roberto De Zerbi has ‘no explanation’ for Marseille’s heavy defeat to PSG
Roberto De Zerbi was at pains to explain Olympique de Marseille’s heavy defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.
Despite beating PSG back in September and drawing in the Trophée des Champions (before a defeat on penalties), OM were completely outclassed at the Parc des Princes (5-0). Speaking at a post-match press conference attended by Get French Football News, De Zerbi couldn’t explain his side’s performance.
“We lost the match in every department. Honestly, I have no explanation. It is the biggest problem at the moment. You start matches and you don’t know what you’re going to see on the pitch. It isn’t an excuse but we have to once again ask for forgiveness. If I had the solution to find consistency, I would take it at all costs. It is the first time that I have a team that is such a rollercoaster,” said the Marseille manager.
He added, “It is the first time that I have had such an unstable team in my career. I don’t understand it. Why do we come here and play like that? And why, against Lens and Rennes, do we play completely different matches? I’m not in the players’ heads. I don’t know what is happening.”
