Official l Bouna Sarr signs with Metz until the end of the season
FC Metz have officially signed Bouna Sarr (34) until the end of the season. The Senegalese, winner of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, confirms his return to the club where he made his professional debut in 2011.
“I am very happy to be returning home, to the place where I was trained and where I took my first steps as a professional. I am proud to be coming back to Saint-Symphorien, where I am looking forward to seeing the club’s supporters again,” he said. “I have only one desire: to secure this club’s place in Ligue 1, where they deserve to be, and I intend to do everything I can to achieve that goal.”
Sarr, a free agent since July 2024 following his departure from Bayern Munich, has been training with Les Grenats since November 2025. An experienced player, the Lyon native will aim to help FC Metz stay in Ligue 1, despite their current last place in the standings.
Having made over a hundred appearances for the Lorraine club, Sarr also distinguished himself during a five-year spell at Olympique de Marseille between 2015 and 2020. He then transferred to Germany to play for the Bavarian giants, where the versatile right-back won numerous trophies, including three league titles and a Club World Cup.
