Juventus have agreement in place with Jean-Philippe Mateta
Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta has given the green light to a move to Italian giants Juventus.
Juventus are looking to add more quality to their attack in the ongoing transfer window as they want to give Luciano Spalletti everything he needs to get the desired results. The Old Lady have identified Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta as a priority target and have been working on a potential transfer for some time.
According to a report from Calciomercato, Juventus have agreed personal terms with the French striker regarding a move to Turin, following talks with his camp. They are now looking to strike a deal with the Eagles, as they look to add him to their squad before the winter window’s deadline.
On the back of an impressive spell at FSV Mainz, Mateta moved to Selhurst Park at the start of 2021. While it was an initial loan deal, the move was made permanent in the following year. He didn’t really get much game time in the initial years, but of late, he has been one of their standout performers.
Last season, the 28-year-old contributed towards 21 goals, and he has carried that form into the new season. He already has 12 goal contributions to his name, and his performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
While his contract runs until the summer of 2027, multiple top clubs are ready to prise him away from Selhurst Park. Juventus have emerged as a potential destination, as they look to bolster Spalletti’s squad at all costs.
Juventus are desperate to sign Mateta mid-season
The Old Lady are massive admirer of the French international and have already stepped up their pursuit of the 28-year-old. The Italian giants have been in talks with his camp. Following a positive conversation between both parties on Friday, Juventus now have the green light from the player’s end.
His camp are delighted about the opportunity to join the Turin-based giants. While they have an agreement with the player, the Old Lady do need to strike a deal with Eagles, which won’t be that straightforward. The Premier League outfit are looking for a fee between €30 to €40 million to sanction his departure mid-season.
Juventus are hoping to strike a deal with Palace next week. However, the finances involved seem to be beyond their reach at this stage. They are looking for a loan deal with a buy obligation, depending on European qualification, but they do not want to go beyond €30 million.
