Liverpool agree Mor Ndiaye deal

Arne Slot’s Liverpool have reached a verbal agreement to sign Senegalese youth international Mor Ndiaye.

Liverpool sent their officials to watch the recent Under-17 World Cup in Qatar in the hope of spotting some sensational talent. They not only identified a world-class defender, but the Reds are also on the verge of adding him to their squad.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Merseyside club have an agreement in place to sign Mor Ndiaye. Not only was the teenage defensive sensation a standout performer for Senegal at the global event, but he was also widely regarded as one of the best players in the tournament.

The 18-year-old centre-back did wonder for the African nation. He was involved in all four of their games and helped them make it to the round of 32, where they were knocked out at the hands of Uganda.

Not only did he impress at the World Cup, but the teenager has had an impressive rise at Senegalese second-tier side Amitie FC, who are owned by former Premier League striker Demba Ba. His performances for both club and country had attracted a lot of interest.

Liverpool are set to sign Ndiaye

But it seems Liverpool are set to beat the competition as they already have a verbal agreement in place to sign Ndiaye. He is all set to be their second defensive signing of the winter transfer window, as they have already added Ifeane Ndukwe from Austria Wien last week.

Ndukwe was another top talent they had spotted at the U17 World Cup. The Reds are well aware of Ndiaye’s massive potential and are looking at him as someone who could eventually replace Virgil van Dijk in their team.

The Liverpool skipper is already 34, and age is starting to catch up to him. As a result, the left-footed Ndiaye could actually help replace him in the long run. However, for now, he will be joining Rob Page’s Under-21 squad.
