Arsenal, Blackburn Rovers discussing Igor Tyjon deal
Arsenal are in talks with Blackburn Rovers for the signing of teenage striker Igor Tyjon, with a deal likely to materialise this month.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are in talks with Blackburn Rovers for their teenage striker talent Igor Tyjon. The Gunners are eager to sign the teenager for their developmental squad as they tried to back in the summer when Blackburn were uninterested.
Blackburn Rovers are in a spot of bother as they are on the verge of losing emerging teenage striker Igor Tyjon. The 17-year-old English attacking sensation has grown steadily in his development arc at the club, having even featured in the Championship and the EFL Cup before.
Arsenal are the club showing massive interest in the teenager, having failed to sign him last summer. Mikel Arteta has sought a young striker capable of shining for the youth teams but on the periphery of the first team, something he might have wanted from Chido Obi-Martin previously, who ended up joining Manchester United.
Arsenal are in talks with Blackburn Rovers over a deal for the 17-year-old English attacking sensation, and would like to get a deal in place this month. Igor Tyjon is on a scholarship contract at Edwood Park, and he has reportedly rejected numerous proposals to sign a professional contract at the club.
With his contract there likely expiring in the summer, it is only logical for Blackburn to cash in, with suggestions that the Gunners are talking finances with the club. The teenage prodigy is widely expected to join Arsenal in the coming period, as he will compete with the likes of Andre Harriman-Annous in the Under-21 side, with Arteta likely to keep the two strikers in proximity to the first team.
Arsenal to be active in January?
Arsenal had a very strong summer transfer window where they addressed a chunk of their squad problems by signing eight new players. However, they are not widely expected to stay active in January, as they realistically do not need a new addition as things stand.
However, they might have a reactionary approach if either a player of utmost interest becomes available to be considered as a market opportunity or a serious injury to one of their players occurs this month. Overall, Arteta has a strong squad at his disposal, capable of sustaining the season even if there are injury-led absentees moving forward.
