Michael Gregoritsch set for Augsburg return after move to Basel collapses
Sky Germany reports that Augsburg are set to complete a move that will see the return of striker Michael Gregoritsch.
It was reported yesterday that the Austrian was close to a return to the Bundesliga, but which club he was going to move to was up in the air.
However, Gregoritsch will be returning to the WWK Arena, with his medical set to take place later today (Monday). It has not yet been revealed whether the move is a loan or a permanent transfer from the Danish side, Brøndby.
Augsburg have needed extra numbers in the striker position following the sale of Phillip Tietz to Mainz for €4m earlier in the window.
Gregoritsch and Augsburg’s history:
The 31-year-old will return to Függerstadt after three and a half years away. Gregoritsch departed the club in 2022 in a swap deal that saw him head to Freiburg and Ermedin Demirvoic head the other way.
In 129 games in Bavaria, the Austrian scored 31 and assisted eight before his move to the Black Forest.
