Liam Rosenior closing in on Chelsea switch as talks advance

RC Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior is close to joining Chelsea as their new boss following Enzo Maresca’s departure.

After a poor run in the league and some off-the-field tension, Chelsea finally ended up parting ways with Enzo Maresca at the start of the new season. Now they are in the market for a new manager, who can take the Italian’s place at the London club.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liam Rosenior is the leading candidate to replace Maresca on the Chelsea bench. The Blues are already in talks to appoint him as their new boss. They seem to be very close to acquiring his services.

Maresca did wonders for the Blues in his first season in charge as he helped them qualify for the Champions League and won the Conference League as well as the Club World Cup. Everything was going according to plan for the London club in the second season as well.

They were on course to challenge for all major titles until the end of November. However, the month of December completely changed things up. Not only were they struggling to win games, but there was a lot of tension between the manager and the board. His cryptic comments didn’t go down well with the owners, and they eventually pulled the plug on him.

Chelsea are looking to appoint Rosenior

With Maresca no longer at the club, Chelsea need to bring in someone who can shape the young squad and is in line with their transfer policy. They consider Liam Rosenior an ideal fit for their project, as he has been doing a great job for their sister club, Strasbourg.

The 41-year-old is already well aware of how things work under the BlueCo, and he can certainly be a great choice. The London club already have a great idea of what to expect from the English manager.

Chelsea are already well advanced in the process of appointing a new boss as soon as possible. They have already held talks with potential candidates, and Rosenior is the front-runner at this point.
