Manchester United turn down Galatasaray approach for Manuel Ugarte
Manchester United have decided to turn down an approach from Galatasaray for midfielder Manuel Ugarte, with plans to keep the Uruguayan.
According to Team Talk, Manchester United have reportedly rebuffed an approach from Galatasaray to take Manuel Ugarte on loan. The Turkish giants were prepared to pay a lucrative loan fee with a buy option at the end of it, but the Red Devils are thinking about keeping the Uruguayan.
Manuel Ugarte could be a topic of discussion in the Manchester United transfer mill, with the midfielder not seeing plenty of game time under Ruben Amorim. The midfielder who arrived in the summer of 2024 in a €60 million deal from PSG has not hit the ground running at Old Trafford.
There were suggestions that Manchester United might consider offers, but so far, they had not received an ample response in the market. There have been a few rumblings of interest in the market, with Galatasaray being the ones prioritising a move.
Ugarte will want to play regularly between now and the summer to stay sharp for the World Cup, for instance. However, he’s probably the third or fourth choice midfielder under Amorim, which has rendered him limited game time this season.
Galatasaray were pushing for a move, with some reports stating talks took place over a move. It appears the Turkish giants want to bring him on an initial loan and were prepared to pay a premium fee close to £15 million, as well as add a buy option of reasonable value at the end of it.
Manchester United to sell Manuel Ugarte?
Manchester United have reportedly turned down the approach from Galatasaray, with the indication that they might want to keep hold of the midfielder. The Red Devils are pushing to get back into the Champions League, and without the right reinforcements, they might not want to sell a squad player and weaken the team.
It remains to be seen whether this stance is in conditional with Manchester United a new midfield, as there are some links to the likes of Conor Gallagher. They were also boosted by Kobbie Mainoo’s reported plans to stay put, as Amorim will want a strong midfield setup in the second part of the season.
