Chelsea join race to sign Antoine Semenyo, make approach
Chelsea have entered the race for the signature of Manchester United and Manchester City attacking target Antoine Semenyo.
Antoine Semenyo’s future has become a massive talking point as we close in on the winter transfer window. Some of the biggest clubs in England are after the signature of the Bournemouth attacking mainstay.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have entered the race for the 25-year-old winger, who is already on the wishlist of Manchester City and Manchester United. The Blues have enquired about the terms of a potential transfer.
After making a name for himself at Bristol City, Semenyo joined the Cherries at the start of 2023, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. He has established himself as a key figure in the team, and his sensational performances this season have resulted in a lot of interest.
The 25-year-old right-winger is enjoying one of the best seasons at Bournemouth, having bagged eight goals and three assists in his 16 outings. While his contract runs until the summer of 2030, a potential departure in the upcoming transfer window is very likely.
Premier League giants want Semenyo
Semenyo’s contract has a £65 million release clause which expires on the 10th of January, and the biggest clubs in the country seem ready to trigger it. Manchester United and Manchester City are already working to strike a deal with the 25-year-old.
United seek more firepower in the final third despite having spent a fortune on forwards during the summer. They feel Semenyo could significantly bolster their chances of securing Champions League football.
Meanwhile, City want more quality on the flanks and consider Semenyo an upgrade on someone like Savinho. Both Manchester-based clubs are already in talks with his camp as they look to get the green light from his end.
Chelsea to rival United and City
While the Manchester clubs are working on a potential deal, Chelsea have entered the race. The Blues are looking to further bolster their attack by signing the 25-year-old and have called today to enquire about the conditions of a potential transfer.
Given the number of clubs that are after his signature, there could be an intense transfer battle in place in the first week of the winter window.
