Predicted Chelsea lineup against Cardiff City: Estevao, Badiashile to start in rotated team

Enzo Maresca will ring in the changes when Chelsea and Cardiff City clash in the EFL Cup quarter-final at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday.

Chelsea will be eager to book a spot in the EFL Cup semi-finals when they lock horns with Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night. Enzo Maresca has no new issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Liam Delap remains in the treatment room due to a shoulder problem, while Dario Essugo and Romeo Lavia are both sidelined with thigh injuries, and Levi Colwill is still out with a knee issue. Mykhailo Mudryk remains unavailable because of a doping-related suspension.

Additionally, Marc Guiu cannot feature against Cardiff City on Tuesday as he is cup-tied, having already represented Sunderland earlier in the competition. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Maresca confirmed he would ring in the changes, with Cole Palmer not travelling to Cardiff.

The Chelsea manager said, “I’ve already said many times in plenty of press conferences that we have a number of players that need to be protected. The target is to protect them and manage them. Cole is one of the players who deserves to be protected right now.”

“In this moment, he’s not available to play two games in three days. So he won’t be available for tomorrow’s game, but should be fine for the weekend. We’re going to make some changes. We’ll see how many, but for sure we have players that in the last 12, 13 days, they’ve played five games. So they need to probably recover energy.”

Filip Jorgensen will replace Robert Sanchez between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Cardiff City on Tuesday. The backline will feature Josh Acheampong, Tosin Adarabioyo, Benoit Badiashile, and Jorrel Hato.

As for the midfield unit, Moises Caicedo will pair up with Andrey Santos in the double pivot after completing his suspension this past weekend. Facundo Buonanotte will reprise the no. 10 role, with Estevao Willian and Jamie Gittens being the two wide attackers. Finally, Tyrique George will lead the line for the away side against Cardiff City this midweek.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Jorgensen; Acheampong, Adarabioyo, Badiashile, Hato; Caicedo, Santos; Estevao, Buonanotte, Gittens; George
