Barcelona have Marc Casado, Marc Bernal in plans, Chelsea keen

Barcelona will unlikely entertain any bids to part ways with homegrown midfielders Marc Casado and Marc Bernal amid their links with Chelsea.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Marc Casado and Marc Bernal are the subjects of interest of Chelsea. The Blues are scouring the market for versatile midfielders and have set their sights on the Barcelona homegrown duo. However, the reigning La Liga champions have the two Spanish midfielders in their plans, although “there is a belief he could be lured away” in January.

Marc Casado and Marc Bernal have established himself as two of the most promising young midfielders in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at FC Barcelona. Casado made his senior bow for Barcelona in November 2022 but had to wait until the 2023/24 season to enjoy his breakthrough at the Catalan club. However, Hansi Flick has brought the best out of the 22-year-old.

The Spanish international made over 50 appearances thus far for Barcelona while chipping in with one goal and seven assists. On the other hand, Bernal has had to bide his time since breaking into the first-team squad at the Catalan club after a long-term knee injury prematurely ended his 2024/25 campaign.

The 18-year-old is now fully fit, but he has managed only 120 minutes of game time across eight outings thus far in the 2025/26 season. Nevertheless, Bernal’s stock in the market is high, and he is a target for Chelsea, with the West London club also pursuing Casado’s signature.

Chelsea’s interest in Marc Casado and Marc Bernal is understandable. The Blues are eager to reinforce their midfield unit in the winter transfer window, even though Enzo Maresca has a stacked midfield unit. Several candidates have thus emerged on Chelsea’s radar, with the two Barcelona homegrown prospects also being viable targets.

Chelsea wanted to sign Casado in the summer transfer window, but he remains on the West London club’s wishlist alongside Bernal.
