Raul Asencio will replace the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold in the Real Madrid starting lineup when they host Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the latest absentee after picking up a hamstring injury that will keep him on the sidelines for the foreseeable future. Additionally, Alonso has been sweating over Eduardo Camavinga’s fitness. However, the French international is in the matchday squad for the game against Celta Vigo.

So, Alexander-Arnold accompanies Dani Carvajal, Dean Huijsen, David Alaba, and Ferland Mendy in the treatment room. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Alonso discussed his right-back options in the absence of Carvajal and Alexander-Arnold.

The Real Madrid manager said, “We have to weigh up what decision we make. We have other options. Valverde always puts the team’s needs before his own. He played there and played well, he’s essential, but we’ll see tomorrow. I remember matches when he’s played at a very high level: against Barcelona, Villarreal and Juventus.”

“Mili has that competitive spirit, athleticism and understanding of the game to play in different positions. He reminds me a bit of Pepe when we played together: he was competitive and you knew that wherever he played, he was going to perform well. Mili can play there if needed.”

Thibaut Courtois is an automatic pick, with Real Madrid lining up in a 4-3-1-2 formation in front of him against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
