Official | OGC Nice react to Sunday’s fan ‘attack’
OGC Nice have put out a press release following violent scenes outside the club’s training ground on Sunday night, in the wake of their 3-1 defeat away to FC Lorient.
As initially reported by Ici Azur, around 400 fans gathered outside Nice’s training ground to express their discontent about the current situation, with the club on a six-game losing streak in all competitions. However, L’Équipe, RMC Sport, and Foot Mercato have reported violence, with Nice fans accused of hitting, kicking, and spitting at players and staff. Jérémie Boga, Terem Moffi, and Florian Maurice were the principal targets.
On Monday evening, Nice put out a press release, confirming that there was a “substantial gathering” of supporters outside the training ground on Sunday evening. The release then stated, “The club understands the frustration generated by the poor performances, a long way off its values. However, the misbehaviour during this gathering was unacceptable. Many members of the club were attacked. OGC Nice offers all of its support and strongly condemns these acts.”
The repercussions of the event will likely be long felt. It is now reported that manager Franck Haise is considering his resignation, whilst Boga and Moffi are now looking to leave the club.
