Barcelona eyeing Cesc Fabregas as Hansi Flick replacement
Barcelona are reportedly eyeing Cesc Fabregas as a potential replacement for Hansi Flick, with some quarters not happy with the German’s management.
According to Fichajes, Hansi Flick’s future at Barcelona has opened up a debate as the club could ponder replacing the German with a new manager in the future. Cesc Fabregas’ name is gaining momentum in the corridors of the Catalan club, with the Como manager seen as a perfect for for the La Liga giants.
Hansi Flick had a top-notch first season at Barcelona after replacing Xavi Hernandez at the helm in the summer of 2024. He helped the club clinch La Liga and reach the Champions League semifinals, but the main reason for his success was the eye-catching attacking football he deployed using the players on board.
He brought out the best among his attacking talents, including Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and more so with Raphinha. While Barcelona are currently leading La Liga, and still in a salvable position in the Champions League, on paper, there shouldn’t be any concerns with the German manager.
However, some reports in Spain have suggested Flick might have come under some pressure for his inability to stabilise the team and performances this season. Barcelona have looked a bit shaky in their displays, which was evident during the midweek loss to Chelsea away from home.
Hence, his position has now come under scrutiny, although he’s in no danger of losing his job at the current moment. Barcelona are already thinking about potential replacements ahead of the future, with the name of Cesc Fabregas gaining momentum.
Cesc Fabregas to replace Hansi Flick at Barcelona?
Cesc Fabregas has made a name for himself while managing Como after a stint at Monaco. The Spaniard, a former Barcelona star through their academy and then as a senior player, between spells at Arsenal and Chelsea. Known widely as a creative genius as a player, the Spaniard is also proving his worth in a similar way as a manager.
Given his history with Barcelona, the La Liga giants will naturally consider him as an option to lead from the front in the future. Como, for their part, are not about to discuss the idea of a departure mid-season. While Flick’s future is not under immediate danger, the club might consider a change if the circumstances do not change, with Fabregas now seen as a firm candidate to replace the under-fire German.
