Julian Nagelsmann links to Liverpool rubbished

Journalist does not think Liverpool’s links to Julian Nagelsmann amid Arne Slot uncertainty have any legs, with the Dutchman likely to be given time.

According to Dominic King of The Daily Mail, Julian Nagelsmann is not a target for Liverpool to replace Arne Slot. The German international manager was linked with a switch to Anfield amid uncertainty over the Dutchman’s immediate future, but either case has been dismissed since.

Arne Slot has come under increasing pressure following some of the recent results that have seen Liverpool fall behind in the Premier League title race. After winning many games at the start of the season, the Merseysiders had a five-point lead over current leaders Arsenal at one stage, but currently they find themselves eleven points behind the Gunners.

It’s been an astronomical drop off in performances, which even saw Liverpool lose four Premier League games in a row in that dreadful period. At the time, there were concerns over Slot’s immediate future despite talk of a new contract rumbling in the media.

At the time, Liverpool backed the manager to turn things around, but things have not gone as per the plan for the Dutchman. Before the international break, they lost out to Manchester City at the Etihad, but since club action resumed this weekend, they were humbled by Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The manner of the result, as well as the open disgruntlement from the fans who left the stadium early, brought back the talk of dismissing Slot. Michael Edwards is still ready to back the Dutchman, and the report stating it suggested he could be given until the end of the season, as even Dominic King stated the Merseysiders are not planning to sack Slot at the current moment.

Julian Nagelsmann’s talk dismissed

In the euphoria of media reports speculating Slot’s immediate future at the club, there have been some names thrown around as potential replacements. One among those is that of Germany national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, who was a reported target when Jurgen Klopp left and before Arne Slot succeeded.

Dominic King believes that Nagelsmann is not a target for Liverpool, and neither was he when Klopp left. IN truth, with the World Cup on the horizon, Nagelsmann is thoroughly focused on his task with the national side, and as per logic, the talk of returning to club football may potentially arise after the tournament in North America next summer.
