Manchester United could sanction January loan exit for Diego Leon

Manchester United may sanction a loan exit for 18-year-old Paraguayan international Diego Leon in the winter transfer window.

According to an update by Argentine journalist Uriel Iugt, Diego Leon may not spend the second half of the 2025/26 season with Manchester United. The teenage Paraguayan prospect has yet to break into the first-team squad at Old Trafford, and regular action in the senior setup at another club may benefit him.

The latest update has revealed that Manchester United may sanction a loan exit for the South American sensation in the winter transfer window. Meanwhile, the youngster “does not look unfavourably on leaving Manchester United to rack up minutes and gain experience at another club” in the second half of the 2025/26 season.

Diego Leon arrived at Manchester United a few months ago with fanfare surrounding him after his exploits for Cerro Porteno. A native of Yguazu, the 18-year-old spent his formative years in Paraguay and graduated from the youth division at Cerro Porteno. That earned him a move to Manchester United, and he arrived at Old Trafford after turning 18.

However, the Paraguayan international has yet to make his senior bow for Manchester United, and he has five appearances thus far for the club’s under-21 side while chipping in with one goal. But with first-team minutes eluding Leon, a January exit may be on the cards for the promising full-back.

The latest report has revealed that Manchester United may allow Diego Leon to embark on a new adventure in the winter transfer window, albeit on a short-term loan deal until the end of the 2025/26 season. The youngster is not averse to the idea either, as he can rack up regular game time for a club’s senior side.

The idea of loaning out Leon makes sense, as he will not get much game time for the Manchester United first team in the coming months.
