Predicted Liverpool lineup against Nottingham Forest: Alisson to return; Szoboszlai at right-back
Alisson Becker will return to the Liverpool starting lineup when they welcome Nottingham Forest to Anfield on Saturday.
Liverpool will be eager to return to winning ways when they host Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. Arne Slot has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Alisson Becker is fit and available to take on Nottingham Forest after recovering from a hamstring injury. The Brazilian international took advantage of the international break to regain sharpness, and he should be ready to start.
However, Conor Bradley and Florian Wirtz picked up muscular injuries during the international break, and the duo has joined Giovanni Leoni (knee) and Jeremie Frimpong (hamstring) in the treatment room. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Slot discussed Alisson’s progress.
The Liverpool boss said, “Alisson trained last week and this week, so he will be able to play tomorrow if things work out well today again. But we do have some issues after the international break unfortunately. Conor Bradley is unable to play [and] Florian Wirtz is unable to play. That’s far from ideal.”
During his presser, Slot discussed who would start as the right-back in the absence of Bradley and Frimpong. The Liverpool manager said, “He [Szoboszlai] has played really well as a full-back and played really well as a midfielder. Curtis Jones played there last season.”
“Joe Gomez can play there but Joe Gomez has played, I think if I’m correct, two times 90 minutes throughout the whole 2025 year. So, if we want to keep him available longer it’s maybe a bit of a risk to play him seven times in 22 days. He missed out on a training session yesterday, by the way, as well but we are expecting him to train today.”
Alisson Becker will reclaim his spot between the sticks, with Liverpool lining up in a 4-3-3 formation in front of him against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. The backline will feature Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, and Andrew Robertson. While Joe Gomez should have started as the right-back, his lack of fitness robs him of a spot in the starting lineup.
As for the midfield unit, Curtis Jones should join Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister in the middle of the park. Finally, Hugo Ekitike will lead the line for the home side against Nottingham Forest, with Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah being the two wide attackers. So, Alexander Isak will be a backup option on the bench.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Szoboszlai, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Ekitike, Gakpo
