Everton, West Ham United exploring Caio Henrique move

Everton and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 28-year-old Brazilian international Caio Henrique from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco in the winter transfer window.

According to an update by Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Everton and West Ham United are keen on signing Caio Henrique. The two Premier League clubs are keen on reinforcing their defensive units by signing a left-back in the winter transfer window. So, the 28-year-old AS Monaco full-back has emerged as a target for them.

Everton and West Ham have established contact to explore a possible January deal for the South American full-back. However, Henrique has no interest in leaving AS Monaco to join a Premier League club, and he wants to remain in Ligue 1 beyond the winter transfer window.

How has Caio Henrique fared at AS Monaco?

Caio Henrique has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AS Monaco from Atletico Madrid in August 2020. The 28-year-old spent most of his formative years in Brazil, graduating from the youth division at Santos. However, he had to wait until the start of the 2020/21 season to land on his feet, with his spell with Atletico Madrid not yielding the desired results.

The Brazilian international has made nearly 200 appearances thus far for the Ligue 1 club while chipping in with three goals and 39 assists. Meanwhile, Henrique’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Everton and West Ham United are among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the winter transfer window.

Premier League adventure beckons?

Everton’s interest in Caio Henrique is understandable. The Merseyside outfit signed Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. However, the 19-year-old Moroccan international has struggled to establish a foothold at Everton, and a January loan exit is on the cards for him. So, Henrique is a viable target for the Toffees.

As for West Ham United, it is surprising that Henrique has emerged as a target for the East London club. The Hammers signed El Hadji Malick Diouf in the summer transfer window, and Oliver Scarles is a top-notch alternative to the Senegalese international. So, it is unclear how Henrique fits into the scheme of things at West Ham.

Nevertheless, Everton and West Ham have contacted the 28-year-old Brazilian full-back’s entourage over a possible winter move. However, Henrique has no interest in leaving AS Monaco anytime soon, and he wants to remain in Ligue 1 until the end of the 2025/26 season instead of moving to the Premier League.
