Angelo Stiller wants Real Madrid move due to Xabi Alonso factor

Real Madrid have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Liverpool and Manchester United midfield target Angelo Stiller.

Angelo Stiller’s impressive rise at VfB Stuttgart hasn’t gone unnoticed. The German midfielder’s performances have placed him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world, and soon there could be a bidding war for his signature.

Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Liverpool are among the front-runners to sign the 24-year-old. But, according to Ekrem Konur, Los Blancos are better-placed than the English clubs to secure Angelo Stiller’s services, as he prefers joining the Spanish giants.

While things did not work out for him at Bayern Munich, Stiller made quite a name for himself at Hoffenheim before joining Stuttgart in the summer of 2023. The young defensive midfielder has only gone from strength to strength over the last few seasons.

Not only has the player established himself as one of their mainstays, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best young defensive midfielders in the world. Stiller penned a new deal at the start of 2025, which runs until the summer of 2028.

Real Madrid are leading the race

While Angelo Stiller is unlikely to be on the move in the winter window, a departure next summer looks almost certain given the number of clubs that are after his signature. With Casemiro’s contract running out and Kobbie Mainoo’s future uncertain, Ruben Amorim is quite keen on having Stiller at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Arne Slot wants someone who can support as well as compete with Ryan Gravenberch for the holding role, and Stiller can certainly help their cause. While Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on securing his signature, they will struggle to beat Real Madrid to his signature.

Xabi Alonso is not satisfied with the midfield options at his disposal. The Real Madrid boss wants to bring in another defensive midfielder, and Stiller is quite high on their wishlist. They have a significant boost in their pursuit as the 24-year-old prefers joining the Madrid-based outfit. Playing under Alonso is one of the biggest factors in his decision.

With the German midfielder’s contract running until 2028, Stuttgart want around €60 million for the 24-year-old. Given his impressive performances and massive potential, the price tag shouldn’t really be that big a problem.
