Fulham identify two areas they want to strengthen January
Marco Silva’s Fulham want to sign a new striker and a midfielder in the winter transfer window to reinforce their squad.
While Marco Silva has done wonders for Fulham over the years, things haven’t really gone according to plan for him in the ongoing campaign. With the Cottagers struggling to get going, they are making plans to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
According to a report from Football Insider, Fulham are looking to sign a new striker and a central midfielder in January, as they look to bounce back after a poor start.
The Cottagers secured an 11th-placed finish last season, but this time around, they are struggling to get going with just 11 points in as many outings. Silva’s team are just a point above the drop zone, and things don’t look that promising for them.
The Portuguese manager was left frustrated during the summer, as the club failed to make the most out of the transfer window. With the team struggling, the board are now looking to make significant additions in the winter.
Fulham’s transfer plans for January
They want to bolster two positions in particular: a new striker to lead the line and a midfielder who can help them better control the tempo of the game.
Fulham have only managed 12 goals in their 11 league outings, clearly highlighting their struggles in the final third. With Rodrigo Muniz out injured, they are looking to sign someone who can guarantee goals as a priority.
Meanwhile, Silva also seeks more quality and depth in the centre of the park. He wants to bring in someone who can compete for a place in the starting XI and raise the standards around him. The club have already started working towards potential transfers.
While the Cottagers are looking to add more quality to Silva’s squad, they also have doubts about his future. They continue to hold talks with the Portuguese manager over a new deal, but could still part ways with him if he fails to turn things around before the end of the year.
