Liverpool ready to rebuff Real Madrid amid Dominik Szoboszlai links
Real Madrid are interested in the Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai but the Reds are unwilling to sanction his departure.
According to Football Insider, they are ready to rebuff the interest from the Spanish club. The 25-year-old midfielder has been a key player for Liverpool this season and they cannot afford to lose him. He is one of the best players at the club and they must keep him if they want to fight for major trophies.
The report adds that they could be open to offering him a new contract in the coming months. It remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to sign a new deal with them. It will come as a huge blow for Real Madrid and it would effectively end their hopes of signing the player.
Pete O’Rourke claims: “I don’t think there’s any chance that Liverpool would consider letting Dominik Szoboszlai leave the club right now.
“He’s probably been Liverpool’s most consistent performer this season. He has stepped up and been a key player for Arne Slot’s side.
“Obviously, he was very instrumental in the title success last season, but again, I think he’s probably been their best performer this season as well.
“So no surprise that maybe there is interest from other clubs. Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the Hungarian in the Spanish media, but I don’t think Liverpool would consider listening to offers for Szoboszlai.”
Liverpool need to keep their best players
The Hungarian is at the peak of his career and he is playing his best football. Keeping him at the club for the long term will be vital for Liverpool as they look to build a team capable of winning trophies regularly.
It is no surprise that Real Madrid are interested in him. They are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they will be hoping to win major trophies regularly. They have not been at their best in recent weeks but they have struggled to control games in the middle of the park and signing a central midfielder could be ideal for them.
They have not been able to replace the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos properly. The Hungarian midfielder will add physicality, drive and defensive cover to the side. He is excellent with his long passing and set pieces as well.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
