Yankuba Minteh could cost £60-70 million amid Liverpool links

Liverpool might have to pay £60-70 million to sign Brighton attacking sensation Yankuba Minteh, who is seen as an ideal replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool have already started planning for life without Mohamed Salah. While the Egyptian international still has around 18 months left on the new deal he signed, his future has become a massive talking point following his recent struggles.

Irrespective of whether he continues for another season or not, the Reds have already started looking for potential replacements. According to a report from Fichajes, the Merseyside club consider Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh as an ideal candidate to take Salah’s place in the long run.

While a winter move looks very unlikely, the Reds have started making moves as they look to get ahead of the competition. As per the report, a potential deal might cost around £60-70 million.

Minteh hasn’t looked back since joining the Seagulls from Newcastle in the summer of 2024. He had an impressive debut campaign and has carried that form into the new season. The 21-year-old right-winger has four goal contributions in his 11 league outings.

Liverpool identify Minteh as Salah replacement

Given his consistent performances for Brighton in the top flight and his massive potential, Liverpool consider him just the perfect fit for their project. He will certainly bring a lot to the table, as he can feature anywhere in attack.

Liverpool are big admirers of his explosive pace, his ability to take on defenders and his understanding of passing football. Slot is already very familiar with his game, having known him from his previous stint in Dutch football, which could certainly be an advantage for the Reds over other suitors.

Despite his struggles, Salah is expected to remain their first choice on the right flank for now. But they are aware that sooner rather than later, they will have to replace him. As a result, they are being proactive and have already found someone who can help them cope with his departure.

Liverpool could go all out for Minteh

Having already identified Minteh as a target, the Merseyside club will be ready to make a move when the time comes. However, Brighton do not want to sell him anytime soon, and are in control of his future with his contract running until 2029.

The Reds might have to make an offer of around £60-70 million to stand a chance of securing his services in 2026. Since a move in January is very unlikely, they will look to wait until the summer to test Brighton’s resolve.
