Predicted Chelsea lineup against Wolverhampton Wanderers: Garnacho among seven to return; Neto fit and available
Alejandro Garnacho will return to the Chelsea starting lineup when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
Chelsea will be eager to return to winning ways when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Stamford Bridge on Saturday night. Enzo Maresca has received a mixed bag of updates on the team news front ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Romeo Lavia is the latest absentee after picking up a hamstring injury earlier this week in the UEFA Champions League clash with Qarabag FK. The Belgian international has joined Levi Colwill (ACL), Benoit Badiashile (muscle), Dario Essugo (thigh), and Cole Palmer (groin) in the treatment room. Mykhailo Mudryk continues to serve a suspension after failing a doping test several months ago.
However, there is some good news, as Pedro Neto should have recovered from a knock to feature on Saturday. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger faces a late fitness test to determine his availability. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Maresca provided a fitness update on Neto.
The Chelsea manager said, “Pedro had a session yesterday with the physio outside on the pitch, it was good. Today he will try with us and then we will take the final decision [as to whether he can face Wolves].”
Maresca also discussed Lavia’s injury, saying, “We don’t have an update at the moment. We need to wait still some hours to do all the checks he needs. For sure, he has an injury. It’s a shame because we are trying to minimise minutes for him, even with that, he is injured again. But we need to persist until we find the right solution for him.”
Robert Sanchez is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Chelsea lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him vs Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. The backline will feature Malo Gusto, Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, and Marc Cucurella. So, Reece James will get some rest, with Gusto replacing him at right-back.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in the double pivot. Joao Pedro will likely reprise the no. 10 role, with Estevao Willian and Alejandro Garnacho being the two wide attackers. Finally, Liam Delap will lead the line for Chelsea against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. So, Pedro Neto will be a backup option on the bench.

Predicted Chelsea XI: Sanchez; Gusto, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez; Estevao, Joao Pedro, Garnacho; Delap
