Bayern Munich in talks to sign Ibrahima Konate
Bayern Munich have entered the race for Ibrahima Konate and opened talks with his camp as they view him as a replacement for compatriot Dayot Upamecano.
According to Bild, Bayern Munich are considering a move for Ibrahima Konate as a replacement for Dayot Upamecano next summer. Both the French defenders are into the final year of their deals, with the Bavarians already in talks with Konate’s camp, but face intense competition to sign the Liverpool star.
The market is shaping up for top teams to make moves for some important central defenders, who could be available on free transfers in the summer. The likes of Marc Guehi, Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano are the players in question, with those stars running down their current deals at their respective clubs.
In the case of Upamecano, he has attracted plenty of interest from top clubs, although there’s still a chance he stays with the Bundesliga giants if the conditions are right. Bayern Munich are ready to go all out to renew his contract, although there’s a big possibility for the France international to depart.
Bayern Munich are now considering a move for Konate to replace Upamecano in the summer, as they view the Liverpool star as a viable target in that regard. Konate himself has widespread interest in the market, with the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona keen on the Frenchman.
Real Madrid are seen as the front-runners in the chase, but as per a recent report, they might lean towards Guehi instead of the Liverpool star. Bayern Munich feels they have every chance to land the 26-year-old Liverpool star on a Bosman deal next summer.
Bayern Munich in Konate talks
Bayern Munich are keen to keep hold of Upamecano as a priority, and may only move for Konate if their current star departs the club. The Bavarians have reportedly opened talks with the 26-year-old Liverpool star’s camp over a potential move, but are aware of rival interest.
Konate’s agents are already exploring talks with multiple other suitors, as Liverpool are pencilled in to lose the 26-year-old in the summer. Now, any move for Konate will depend on Upamecano’s decision on his own future, but also their ability to offer the best terms and project to the Liverpool star.
