Florentino Perez dreams of Real Madrid move for Micky van de Ven

Florentino Perez reportedly has his eyes set on Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven as he looks to reinforce Real Madrid’s backline.

Micky van de Ven’s sensational rise at Tottenham have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe. Real Madrid are one of the clubs that are interested in acquiring his services, and according to a report from Fichajes, the Dutch defender is a dream target for the Spanish club’s president, Florentino Perez.

After making a name for himself at VfL Wolfsburg, the 24-year-old centre-back made the move to Tottenham in the summer of 2023. While he has had a few injury troubles, van de Ven has certainly gone from strength to strength since moving to England.

The Dutchman has established himself as one of Tottenham’s mainstays in no time, and he is widely regarded as one of the best young defenders in the Premier League. His strong physical presence, exceptional positioning, aerial prowess, and pace have all stood out so far.

At just 24, the Dutch international is only expected to get better with time. As a result, some of the biggest clubs are after his signature. The Wolfsburg academy graduate has been in sensational form this season; not only has he been a rock at the back, but he has also chipped in with six goals.

While Micky van de Ven’s contract at Tottenham runs until the summer of 2029, his future has become a major talking point amid interest from the likes of Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are looking to add more quality to their backline next summer.

Van de Ven is a dream target for Madrid

With David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger’s contracts running out, Los Blancos are keen to bring in an ideal long-term replacement. Rather than targeting an established world-class centre-back, they are focusing on a younger option, and Micky van de Ven is considered an ideal fit.

He would slot seamlessly into Xabi Alonso’s system and, more importantly, is seen as a dream target for Florentino Perez. However, signing him will not be straightforward, as he is valued at around €100 million.

Tottenham are reluctant to part ways with one of their most valuable assets, and they are in no rush to negotiate his departure, given his long-term deal until 2029. Interested clubs will have to fork out close to €100 million to even stand a chance of landing him. Not only will Real Madrid have to convince both Tottenham and van de Ven, but the overall cost of the deal could also complicate matters.
