Chelsea plotting €80 million move for Rodrygo
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are gearing up to make a €80 million move to sign Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo.
Rodrygo’s future has been a big talking point since the start of the summer. The arrival of Xabi Alonso has seen him go down the pecking order, and he has been constantly linked with a move away from the club. While he did end up staying, the Brazilian now seems set to leave, having played very little football so far this season.
According to a report from Fichajes, Chelsea are keen on signing Real Madrid star forward. The Blues are plotting a winter raid on the Spanish giants, and they are ready to fork out €80 million to sign the 24-year-old.
Rodrygo joined Los Blancos back in the summer of 2019 after making a name for himself at Santos. He has only gone from strength to strength since making the move to Spain. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in their team, but the Brazilian international has also helped them win quite a few important titles over the years.
While he still has well over two years left on his deal, his future has been up in the air as he is no longer a guaranteed starter. The 24-year-old was a regular feature in their XI under Carlo Ancelotti. However, that’s not the case under Alonso.
The Spanish manager isn’t keen on deploying him on the right flank and wants Rodrygo to compete with Vinicius Junior. While he has been involved in 15 matches, he has racked up less than 500 minutes of first-team action and is yet to find the back of the net.
Chelsea are plotting a raid on Real Madrid
Rodrygo is frustrated by the lack of minutes and finally seems ready to make the move away from the club. Chelsea have emerged as a potential destination for the Brazilian international. The Blues want to reinforce their attack, and they consider the Real Madrid mainstays as an ideal fit for their system.
Maresca is keen on bolstering his attack, and the London club are gearing up to make an offer worth around €80 million to sign him in the upcoming winter transfer window. They believe his arrival could help them push for Champions League glory.
While he has the potential to become a key figure in their attack, prising him away from Real Madrid won’t be easy. It would require a major financial outlay, and the Blues would still need to convince the Spanish giants to part with one of their best attackers. It will be interesting to see what decision Los Blancos make regarding the 24-year-old.
