West Ham United confident of signing Oscar Mingueza

West Ham United are growing confident about signing key defensive target Oscar Mingueza in January on a cut-price deal.

According to Fichajes, West Ham United are vying for Oscar Mingueza ahead of January and remain confident about landing the Spanish defender. Celta Vigo could be forced to sell their star on a cut-price deal owing to his unresolved contractual situation.

West Ham United are looking into the market to improve their squad ahead of the January window, as Nuno Espirito Santo is eager to strengthen a few key positions. The Hammers are in a precarious position in the Premier League as they are in 18th position and in the relegation zone.

The Hammers are prioritising a move for a new striker, with some key names part of their list, including Endrick and Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic. Any move for the former looks unlikely as there are other important clubs in the mix, although the Hammers are now intent on landing a new attacker in the winter window.

Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo also wants a new defender in the window, with Oscar Mingueza a key target ahead of the winter transfer window. The Celta Vigo star has been a key performer for the Spanish side this season, and continued to attract some key clubs towards his signature.

West Ham could make do with a new right-back in the squad, and Nuno Espirito Santo would want another alternative to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with Mingueza likely to offer a different dynamic. The Spaniard has a €20 million release clause in his contract, although there is a big chance for the Hammers or any other team to get him for considerably less.

Celta Vigo are under pressure over Oscar Mingueza

Celta Vigo are currently under pressure over Mingueza, with the €20 million-rated defender well into the final year of his deal at the club. There have been no advancement on a new contract, which leaves the situation precarious and against the Galician side’s plans.

It appears, West Ham could potentially sign the defender for around €8 million, which is considerably less than the €20 million release clause in his contract. Celta Vigo could accept a fee in that range as they do not want to lose the versatile Spanish defender on a free next summer.
