Manchester United and Chelsea have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the French International goalkeeper, Mike Maignan. 

The 30-year-old will be out of contract in a few months, and contract talks with AC Milan have now stalled, as per Ekrem Konur. It seems that he will move on as a free agent at the end of the season. Manchester United and Chelsea are hoping to secure his signature, and the development will be encouraging for them.

They should look to try and secure a pre-contract agreement with the goalkeeper during the January window. As foreign clubs, they will be able to secure the agreement with the player beforehand.

Meanwhile, the development will be a huge blow for AC Milan. They will be losing one of their best players on a free transfer. It remains to be seen whether they can replace him.

Meanwhile, Chelsea need an upgrade on Robert Sanchez, and the French international would be an exceptional addition. The Spanish goalkeeper has been criticised for his inconsistencies, and he is certainly not good enough to start for a team, hoping to win the league title of the Champions League.

Manchester United will also need to find an alternative to Altay Bayindir. Andre Onana is currently out on loan, but he is expected to leave the club permanently at the end of the season. Maignan could be a quality acquisition, and he could mentor Senne Lammens.
