Hamburger SV contemplating permanent move for Fabio Vieira
Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV are reportedly considering signing Arsenal flop Fabio Vieira on a permanent deal next year.
Fabio Vieira could finally end up securing a permanent move away from Arsenal next summer. According to SportBILD via Sport Witness, Hamburger SV are seriously considering signing the Portuguese attacking midfielder. However, they will only go ahead with the deal if they can ensure a quick profit from a sale.
Vieira came up the ranks at FC Porto and made quite a name for himself on his way up. After two impressive seasons with the Portuguese club’s first team, Arsenal forked out €40 million (including add-ons) to sign the 25-year-old in the summer of 2022.
While the North London club had massive expectations from the attacking midfielder, the move did not go according to plan for both parties. Vieira failed to cement his spot in their first team, and he spent the last season out on loan at his childhood club.
His contract at Arsenal runs until the summer of 2027, but he has no future under Mikel Arteta. As a result, the North London outfit ended up sending him out on loan to Hamburg for the ongoing campaign. The German club secured his services very late in the window, and the move also includes a €20 million purchase option.
The 25-year-old has had an impressive start to life in Germany. In his five outings, Fabio Vieira has contributed towards two goals, and he has been one of their standout performers. On the back of his impressive start, the Bundesliga outfit are considering triggering the buy option.
Hamburger SV are ready to trigger the buy option
If the Arsenal flop continue to perform in a similar fashion, Hamburger SV could end up paying around €20 million to secure his services. However, the Bundesliga outfit will only go ahead with it if they have a buyer lined up. They will only trigger the option if they can secure an instant profit by offloading him.
The buy option worth around €20 million is way beyond what Hamburg would ideally like to pay, but they could meet the North London club’s demand if they already have an agreement in place with another top club to sell the 25-year-old for a decent profit.
The Bundesliga club see this as a great market opportunity, and they are confident that there won’t be a shortage of interest in him if he continues playing in a similar fashion. Meanwhile, Arsenal will be hoping they can finally get the 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder off their books.
