Lyon set to sign new attacker in January after Malick Fofana’s injury

According to a report from L’Équipe, Olympique Lyonnais are planning to recruit a new attacker during the winter transfer window following Malick Fofana’s (20) ankle injury. The Belgian international forward was stretchered off during Lyon’s 2-1 victory against Strasbourg on Sunday evening.

Fofana is set to be out for three months with a severely sprained ankle. The 20-year-old had thought to had potentially fractured his ankle, but initial scans ruled out a break. Lyon are now short in attack, with Ernest Nuamah also out on the treatment table. Alfonso Moreira is set to be granted a starting berth in the left winger’s absence.

Fofana out until the end of January

With the Lyon forward set to be out until the end of the transfer window and scheduled to miss around 15 matches, Les Gones are hoping to recruit a new attacker during the winter window. L’Équipe understands OL were planning on signing a new forward before the Belgian’s injury after the summer departures of Alexandre Lacazette, Georges Mikautadze, and Rayan Cherki.
