Sevilla rival West Ham United in Joshua Zirkzee chase

Sevilla have entered the race to sign Joshua Zirkzee, with West Ham United providing competition in the hunt for the Manchester United striker.

According to the Daily Mirror, Sevilla are the latest to enter the race for Joshua Zirkzee ahead of the winter transfer window. The Manchester United forward is widely expected to leave the club in search of regular football, with West Ham United also keen on the Dutchman ahead of the winter window.

Joshua Zirkzee’s future at Manchester United will be a subject of discussion ahead of the winter transfer window, as the forward looks to escape his Old Trafford hell. Having signed from Bologna in the summer of 2024 in a  £36.5 million deal, the striker has not found the rhythm to hit the ground running.

Having notched seven goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, Manchester United could not find a solution to his future in the summer, when they instead offloaded Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli. Zirkzee was widely expected to attract big interest ahead of the January window, as Ruben Amorim has preferred other players instead of the Dutchman in his starting lineups.

For instance, summer arrival Benjamin Sesko is now considered the main striker at Old Trafford, while Amorim also tends to use Mason Mount in attack if he does not start with the Slovenian. That has resulted in Joshua Zirkzee falling in the pecking order and being deprived of regular minutes ahead of a World Cup, where he is hopeful of playing, which could potentially see him ask to leave Old Trafford.

There is interest from West Ham United, and the East Londoners are looking to improve their attacking ranks with a new striker. Whether the £36.5 million Manchester United striker is the answer to their problems up front remains to be seen, as they are also involved in talks for Real Madrid’s Endrick, among others. The Hammers are likely to bring in a new forward on loan, and could propose such a move for Zirkzee.

Sevilla enters Joshua Zirkzee chase

Sevilla are the latest to enter the race to sign Zirkzee, as they could angle for a loan move for the Dutchman and potentially offer him regular game time in the process. The Dutchman was reportedly angling for a move to one of the European sides in search of regular minutes, and it could potentially be the Spanish side.

AS Roma are also interested, and a return to Serie A had long been mooted for Zirkzee, even six months into his Manchester United career. However, for now, it appears Sevilla could make a serious push for the Dutch striker, although one cannot disregard West Ham as an option if the attacker deems the Premier League as the place for him to stay and play regularly.
