Thomas Müller, sporting ‘Canadian Playoff Beard’, prepares to contest MLS Cup

Sporting a distinctly Canadian “playoff beard“, German footballing legend Thomas Müller is prepared to chase some more trophies. The 36-year-old gets set to contest the MLS playoffs with his new North American club Vancouver Whitecaps. Some two-and-a-half months after departing his beloved Bundesliga and the only professional club he’s ever represented, Müller has already picked up more silverware for his extensive collection.

Müller’s goal and assist helped the Whitecaps claim their fourth consecutive Canadian title over local rivals Vancouver FC on October 1st. Now it’s time to pursue the MLS Cup. Müller’s second seeded Whitecaps face Dallas FC in a best-of-three series that kicks off on Monday. Müller has thus far scored seven goals and contributed three assists in seven MLS games for his new team.

I was open to many things,” Müller – as quoted by transfermarkt.de – said of his new station. “But I didn’t expect to make such a great decision. The journey has been sensational for myself, the team, and the fans. But my work is not done yet. We’re in the playoffs now and all I care about is winning something big.
