Jamal Musiala returns to Bayern Munich training pitch

Nearly four months after suffering his horror injury in the Club World Cup quarterfinals Jamal Musiala is back on the Bayern Munich training pitch. The 22-year-old engaged in some light running laps at the Säbener Straße on Thursday. The German phenom’s Bundesliga club made the most out of Musiala’s return with several hopeful posts on social media.

When precisely Musiala will return to action for the German giants remains unclear. Bayern presently have no need to rush the youngster’s return. Vincent Kompany’s FCB have won all twelve of their competitive fixtures this year and – barring something wholly unforeseen – should continue their run against last-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach this weekend.

Musiala returned to the training pitch mere hours after 17-year-old Lennart Karl broke his record as Germany’s youngest-ever goalscorer in a Champions League match. Karl has featured in Musiala’s No. 10 slot in all three of his starts (league, cup, and Champions League) under Kompany this season. Musiala did not touch upon Karl’s accomplishments in his public statements.

I’m progressing step by step,” Musiala noted in his club-released statement., “It feels really good. I’m excited about the rush of being back on the pitch. My foot felt good. No I have get used to running again, build up speed. Then it starts with the ball. Dribbling, passing, shooting. I’m taking my time and won’t be setting a [comeback] date.
