From Ajax to Helsinki via Amiens: KV Mechelen welcome back Burkina Faso international for a second spell

KV Mechelen have announced that, after a brief trial period, Burkina Faso international Hassane Bande has joined the side on a one year deal. Bande now returns to the club where he made his breakthrough back in the 2017/2018 season. Since then, he has gone on to play for a number of sides but has struggled to reach the levels that were expected after his time in Belgium. Hopefully a return to KV Mechelen will prove the catalyst for Bande, who is only 26, to show what he can do.

During the 2017/2019 season, Bande played 27 games and scored 12 goals. This earned him a move across the border to Amsterdam, although he never made an appearance for the senior Ajax side. Instead he spent time on loan at Thun and NIK Istra. It was the latter where he had some success, with eight goals in 51 games for the side. In 2022 he left Ajax for France and signed for Amiens, but after just one goal and 21 appearances he left the following summer. In 2023 he joined HJK Helsinki, scoring 10 goals in 55 games. His contract was up with Helsinki in the summer and he has been a free agent since June. Bande was given the chance to earn a contract with KV Mechelen, which he has successfully done. He joins a side that are performing well so far in the Pro League.
