Bayer Leverkusen announce Malik Tillman (23) set for two week absence
Bayer Leverkusen have announced that Malik Tillman (23) is set to be sidelined for approximately two weeks after sustaining a thigh injury while on international duty with the United States.
The Bundesliga club confirmed the news after Tillman returned and a full diagnosis on the player’s thigh was carried out. It meant that the American attacker missed Leverkusen’s 4-3 win against Mainz on Matchday 7, while he will miss die Werkself’s games against Paris Saint-Germain, Freiburg, Paderborn, and potentially Bayern Munich on November 1.
Difficult start to his Bayer Leverkusen career
Following his €35m transfer from PSV in the summer, Tillman has somewhat struggled at Bayer Leverkusen. It started with the 23-year-old representing the USMNT in the Gold Cup before missing pre-season and being sidelined for Leverkusen’s games against Sonnenhof Großaspach and Hoffenheim.
Tillman would then start seven successive games across all competitions (five in the Bundesliga, two in the Champions League), resulting in two goals.
