Nottingham Forest eyeing Brendan Rodgers move

Nottingham Forest are now looking to appoint former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as their next manager.

We are not even at the halfway mark of the new season, and Nottingham Forest are already looking for their third manager. Following differences between Nuno Espirito Santo and the owners and a few poor results at the start of the season, the Tricky Trees parted ways with the Portuguese manager.

They decided to bring in Ange Postecoglou to replace him, but the former Tottenham boss only lasted 39 days at the hot seat. Nottingham sacked the Australian manager following their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the weekend, and according to a report from Football Insider, they are now looking to appoint Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers as their new boss.

Rodgers has spent a significant part of his managerial career in England, and he could now be set for a return to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest. The 52-year-old, who had successful spells at Liverpool and Leicester City back in the day, has emerged as a shock new candidate for the managerial role at the Nottinghamshire-based club.

The former Liverpool boss has been in charge of Celtic since the summer of 2023. He has done wonders for the Scottish giants, but his future at the club has been up in the air for some time. His current deal runs out at the end of the season, and talks over a potential renewal have reached a standstill.

Forest set to approach Brendan Rodgers

Forest are now looking to knock on his door and inform him about their desire to have him on their bench. Having sacked Postecoglou minutes after their defeat at the hands of Chelsea, the Tricky Trees are desperately looking for someone who can steady the ship.

They have created a shortlist of targets to replace the former Tottenham boss. Sean Dyche is believed to be the frontrunner, but they also have their eyes on Roberto Mancini and Fulham’s Marco Silva. Meanwhile, Rodgers has emerged as another candidate for the role.

His extensive experience in the English top flight make him an interesting option for owner Evangelos Marinakis. Rodgers have become increasingly frustrated at the Scottish club because of the lack of transfer spending by the board, and he could certainly look to make the switch to the Premier League. However, the Tricky Trees might have to agree a compensation to get him out of Celtic mid-season.
