Barcelona in transfer tussle to sign Daniel Munoz

Barcelona are reportedly all set to battle La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid for the signature of Crystal Palace’s defensive mainstay, Daniel Munoz.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Barcelona are looking to reinforce their backline, and they are interested in acquiring the services of Daniel Munoz. The Catalan giants are all set to battle rivals Atletico Madrid in the race for his signature.

Munoz joined the Eagles at the start of 2024 from Genk, and he hasn’t looked back since. The South American full-back hardly took any time to adjust to life in the Premier League, and has been one of their standout performers of late.

While Munoz prefers playing as a right-back, he is equally effective in a wing-back role. The 29-year-old has made quite a name for himself with his relentless energy, defensive solidity, and attacking contributions.

La Liga giants to battle for Daniel Munoz

Munoz’s performances have put him on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world. La Liga giants Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both interested in acquiring his services.

The Madrid-based outfit are known to have a robust backline under Diego Simeone. The Argentine tactician now wants more quality at right-back to further strengthen his backline, and Daniel Munoz is quite high on his wishlist.

The Crystal Palace wide man has all the qualities that Simeone wants in his full-back. However, Atletico Madrid won’t find it easy to secure his services, as Barcelona are very keen on signing the 29-year-old.

While Jules Kounde continues to do a great job at right back, Hansi Flick lacks depth in that position. He wants to bolster his backline with a new right-back, and Munoz is seen as a perfect fit for his system.

Crystal Palace are in no rush to sell Munoz

Securing Munoz’s services won’t be that straightforward. His current deal at Selhurst Park runs until the summer of 2028, and the Eagles do have an option to extend it by another 12 months. The South London club are under no pressure to negotiate his departure.

Crystal Palace are unlikely to listen to offers before the summer of 2026. But with the Colombian international turning 30 before next summer, the winter window might be their final opportunity to raise significant funds from his departure. As a result, his future is certainly one to keep an eye on in 2026.
