Serie A  giants AS Roma have reportedly intensified their efforts to sign Manchester United attacker Joshua Zirkzee next year.

According to a report from Fichajes, AS Roma are keen on adding more firepower to their attack in the winter transfer window, and they have their eyes set on Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee. The Italian giants are looking to bring him back to Serie A, where he had a lot of success at Bologna.

While things did not go according to plan for him at Bayern Munich, Zirkzee did revive his career with an impressive spell at Bologna. On the back of his sensational rise, Manchester United forked out a significant fee to add him to their squad in the summer of 2024.

The Red Devils had a lot of expectations from the 24-year-old. However, he has failed to establish himself as a key part of the Manchester United squad. The arrival of Ruben Amorim has not helped his cause either. Zirkzee has had very limited game time under the Portuguese manager.

In the new season, the Dutchman has only been involved in four matches and has racked up just 82 minutes of first-team action. While he was hoping a move to Old Trafford would help him take the next step in his career, things have not gone according to plan for him.

With Joshua Zirkzer struggling to get regular game time, he could now look to leave United in the upcoming transfer window. The report suggests Manchester United won’t stand in his way if the 24-year-old decides to leave. However, they would want a significant fee to let go of the Dutch international. The Red Devils could let him leave on loan with an option to buy.

AS Roma pushing to sign Zirkzee

AS Roma have emerged as a potential destination for Joshua Zirkzee. Gian Piero Gasperini seeks more quality in the final third, and the Serie A club are looking to bring in someone who can add goals and help them compete in Italy as well as Europe.

The Giallorossi want someone who can be a part of their project for the long run, and given Zirkzee’s track record in the Serie A, Roma are looking to knock on United’s door in the winter window. The 24-year-old appears to be a priority target for them.
