Manchester United rule out Thomas Tuchel move to replace Ruben Amorim
Manchester United will not pursue 52-year-old German tactician Thomas Tuchel to replace Ruben Amorim if they part ways with the Portuguese manager.
According to a report by The Sun, Thomas Tuchel is not in Manchester United’s plans if they part ways with Ruben Amorim midway through the 2025/26 season. While Sir Jim Ratcliffe has insisted that the struggling Premier League giants will not sack the Portuguese tactician anytime soon, widespread updates have linked them with many candidates to replace the former Sporting CP boss.
Thomas Tuchel and his career so far
Thomas Tuchel has established himself as one of the world’s best managers in the past decade. The Krumbach native did not enjoy a long professional career, and he entered the managerial sphere in 2007 by taking charge of FC Augsburg’s reserve team. His next job was with FSV Mainz 05, a job that put him on the map.
However, Tuchel rose in prominence after joining Borussia Dortmund before enjoying trophy-winning success during his spell with Paris Saint-Germain. The 52-year-old then joined Chelsea, and he guided the West London club to the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup. However, his time with Chelsea ended after run-ins with the owners.
Tuchel’s next assignment came with Bayern Munich, and he guided the Bavarian club to the 2022/23 Bundesliga title. However, the German tactician left another club in egregious circumstances. But the former Chelsea manager’s latest stint has brought optimism, with England hot off the blocks under his tutelage.
What next?
Recent reports have suggested that Thomas Tuchel may be an option for Manchester United if they part ways with Ruben Amorim. Widespread updates have provided a conflicting image of the situation, as some have suggested that he retains Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s backing, with the minority owner also insisting the same.
However, others have suggested that Amorim’s future depends on some “key factors” in the coming months. Meanwhile, widespread reports have linked Manchester United with several candidates, including Unai Emery. However, Tuchel is not in the Premier League club’s plans to replace Amorim.
The report has claimed that Manchester United will not approach the 52-year-old former Chelsea manager if they part ways with Amorim. The links seemed preposterous anyway, as the German tactician started his job a few months ago. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Amorim.
